Thank you for interest in employment with us. The following information is an overview of any and all current positions for which we are recruiting.  It also explains what we ask from aspiring candidates and our employment recruitment process. Thanks to our patients, we continue to grow and expand our staff. We currently have two openings (a NEW position of Optometric Assistant / Insurance Clerk and a NEW position for an additional Optometric Technician) please specify which one you seek.   Before sending your resume', please read HOW TO APPLY at the bottom of this page.

 

OPTOMETRIC ASSISTANT / INSURANCE CLERK

This NEW position is for approximately 30+ hours per week and involves billing of insurance claims under the direct supervision of our office manager.  It involves Saturday mornings and should have at least one regularly scheduled half day off per week. It is anticipated that 40% of your time will be on insurance monitoring & rebilling with 60% on the other aspects of your job. This position is for our Salem facility It includes:

 

PRIMARY  TASKS   (you will perform on a daily basis and are primarily your responsibility)

INSURANCE CLERK

  • Monitoring of insurance accounts receivable aging

  • Patient advocacy - appealing for coverage on denied claims

  • Insurance rebilling / Electronically and via paper

FRONT DESK

  • Greet and register patients as they check in

  • Manage our telephones & intercom

  • Process the mail

  • Patient recalls

  • Returning patient calls

  • Patient correspondence

  • New Billing of patients & posting payments on accounts

  • Submitting Insurance claims

  • Styling, adjustment & repair of eyeglass frames

  • Ordering glasses & contacts

  • Special Assignment from Doctors or Office Manager

SECONDARY TASKS  (you will perform on a daily basis and are a shared responsibility)

  • Insurance billing of new claims / electronically and via paper

  • Light office cleaning

  • Assist with mailing of statements

  • Assist with Patient Billing, scheduling & registration

  • Assisting any team member

OPTOMETRIC TECHNICIAN  I

This NEW position is for an  OPTOMETRIC TECHNICIAN, which is involved primarily with screening patients for examination by our doctors including the use of specialized equipment. It will include starting the medical record, history taking and basic screening. This position may expanded to include specialized diagnostic testing including digital photography, visual field analysis and ocular imaging.  Team member may also assist with billing, scheduling and frame styling, adjustment & repair.  It is expected this to involve around 20 hours per week.

Employee must be a TEAM PLAYER who is responsible for their own work and requires minimal supervision. Due to the nature of our mission, low employee turnover is necessary. This position is a fast paced one which necessitates the need for excellent communication skills. Due to the growing involvement of technology in eye care, especially computer based technology, basic COMPUTER LITERACY IS REQUIRED.   It is also very important that your work be done efficiently and without error. Although experience does count, previous health care, optical, and/or office experience is not necessary.     OUR LOCATIONS

    From time to time, we hire additional staff members specifically for one of our two office locations. Individuals with the flexibility to work at either facility is an asset but not a requirement unless posted as such in the specific job description. Our staff is comprised of both part-time and full-time positions.
