IN THE COMMUNITY
Dr. Audia is a member of the Ritchie County Chamber of Commerce. He is currently serving his thirteenth consecutive term as President of the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce. He serves on the Salem Apple Butter Festival Committee as its webmaster and is the webmaster of www.salemwv.com. He is past member and nine time Past President of the Harrison County Parks & Recreation Commission. Dr. Audia is a co-author of the Salem City Charter. Audia serves as a member and past chairman of the board of the Fort New Salem Foundation. He is a past President and former member of the Salem Planning & Zoning Commission and the Salem Lions Club. He resides with Lena, his wife, and daughter Brittany in Salem. His other daughter, Jennifer, attends West Virginia University.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Dr. Joseph Audia attended Liberty High School in Clarksburg, WV and West Virginia University. He attained his Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Philadelphia, PA in 1983. Dr. Audia received a citation in clinical excellence from PCO in 1983. He is a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, a national Optometric honor fraternity. He is also a member of the American Optometric Association, the American Public Health Association, and the American Diabetic Association. He currently is a member and Past President of the West Virginia Optometric Association.
CONTINUING EDUCATION
Dr. Audia is supported by a highly trained staff with over 35 years total service in eye care. Both he and the staff attend numerous continuing education classes annually. Dr. Audia, in 1995, attended a seminar on advanced use of Lasers in eye care conducted by the North Eastern College of Optometry in Oklahoma. He also attended “ Advanced Pharmacology for Optometrists “ given by the continuing education department of the Marshall University School of Medicine. He was certified by WVU for pre-op & post-op PRK care ( new laser for myopia ) as well as by the West Virginia Board of Optometry for Advanced Therapeutic and Management of Ocular Diseases by topical and systemic medications. |
